“Symbolism is no mere idle fancy: it is inherent in the very texture of human life.” Alfred North Whitehead
Speaking of ancient symbolism, the Gecko carries interesting “totem” energy. As we look at traditional spiritual overlays, from one culture to another, geckos don’t stray too far in their significance.
Though superstitions can be fairly varied, geckos often have very profound, mystical and important meanings, playing important roles within various indigenous societies.
As a twilight and night creature, they are among the “dream-keepers” and “shape shifters”. Also, because of their molting, color changes and the fact that they usually mate in the spring months, Geckos represent transition and transformation, death and rebirth, metamorphosis and letting go of old things for the new.
Geckos also stand for our ability to overcome and cope with challenges. They remind us of wondrous emergence from transition as they depict dream guidance, beauty, mystery, communication, mysticism and awakenings.
The small but mighty Gecko is celebrated throughout the world with old world songs, tonal resonance, and dance.
Celebrate the Dance of your own, inner Spirit while the light of this precious day dims by creating and executing your own song or dance in honor of the magnificent Gecko.
