mother earth

“The common growth of Mother Earth suffices me—her tears, her mirth, Her humblest mirth and tears.” William Wordsworth

As most of us know, unexpected gifts come with travel and exploration of this magnificent world.

For Dorothy Atalla (following a trip to Petra, Jordan), the prime result became a series of discoveries that transcended the space-time continuum of 3-d Earth Reality. Seven years after her return to her home in Wisconsin, a “Presence” appeared to Dorothy (during meditation sessions)—a “Presence” in the form of a goddess figure, one that declared herself to be an aspect of the “living forces of the planet.”

In “Conversations with the Goddess”, Dorothy Atalla reports that Petra is a sacred place: “In its function as power point Petra replicated something of the mysterious nature of the feminine in its generative power.”

During a subsequent meditation session, the goddess figure explains to Dorothy: “Your experience [at Petra] was simply an intensification of an awareness which all human beings have when they allow stillness within and let themselves sense the environment into which they were born, the great mother which surrounds them . . . . “

Dorothy relates the account of her amazing experiences with this planetary energy via a linear, straight-forward/journal-style of writing. In that respect, I have to be honest, it reads like a textbook—but if you are interested in studies involving Goddess traditions or Gaia wisdom, you will like “Conversations with the Goddess.”

As readers of Dance of the Spirit know, I am no stranger to mystical experiences—exhibit A: http://danceofthespirit.com/thoughtforms/part-3-of-my-pilgrimage-to-avalon-the-amazing-crop-circle-event-2/ As a result, I do not doubt Dorothy’s sincerity—for the most part, the messages imparted to her [via her meditations with the Presence] ring true, many of them poetic, such as:

“. . . . the [human] body is a living symbol—and so are its parts—of the many realities which it embodies.”

“. . . Every time a woman bears life she accesses powerful forces which enter the subtle body of earth and influence the consciousness of earth. These forces advance the consciousness of earth; they do so through being birthed, through human incarnation, into the physical plane. As an expression of the union of these great forces—celestial and earth forces—every child is a divine child; each child is a new ‘blueprint’ for the spiritual evolution of the [human] race. Since that child is also a new expression of earth’s consciousness, s/he helps to forward earth’s evolution.”

“. . . Earth is a great teacher of man. It teaches him to release himself from the rigid grip of ego. Only then can he understand what it means to have a larger Self. Until he is able to do this, he can only have glimpses of his larger Self.”

Dorothy states in the epilogue of her book: “. . . As my conversations with the Presence progressed my perceptions about myself as a female changed too, for I began to see that my female body was not separate from my spiritual intention on earth. Then my view about my place in the universe changed as well. I recognized that my life as a woman was part of a vast evolution, and it was woven of many dimensions.
Through my conversations with the Presence I came to understand what it meant to be part of a universal Story which is always unfolding in our lives with our participation . . . “

Deeply personal inward journeys, such as the one undertaken by Dorothy, can reveal hidden mysteries about ourselves and the greater world(s) we are bound to, the seen and the unseen. We find our courage, then we leap into the quantum where an ultimately truth is revealed—a message that confirms the Oneness of the Universe and the knowledge that each of us has a key role to play as shining strands of the Golden Web.

Hopefully, we will be brave enough to speak our truth, our belief about what we’ve learned, as Dorothy has in “Conversations with the Goddess”.

Sometimes, such cosmic revelations can only be described in symbols. A good example—a painting (by Karl Schinkel)—is one that Ms. Atalla highlights in her book; the work is entitled, “Starry Vault of the Queen of Night.” The Presence commented on Schinkel’s symbolic art with the following insight: “The Queen of Night is an enduring image from a realm of images so elemental in nature that they can be described in words only up to a point. After that, one stands on the edge of a mysterium tremendum, for which there are no words.”

Throughout history, the world has given us visionaries and prophets. It is not up to us to question where their wisdom comes from—whether it be their Higher Self, external mystical realms, parallel dimensions, Sophia’s body (a.k.a. Gaia), or some other form of Divine Revelation.

Our job is simple: to sit with the teachings that the Wisdom-Keepers bring to us and ponder them. Then, we must decide how to incorporate the lessons (the specific ones that ring true for us) into our own lives.

Mother Earth

I will conclude with some final words by “the Presence” (as related by Ms. Atalla):“. . . When thinking changes, society changes. The seed has been planted in many hearts. There is already a yearning for a ’something else’. Though many are not sure what this yearning is about they feel its ache within their hearts, and that is because of the strong spiritual impulses toward transformation that are sweeping across the planet . . . ”
