On the Dance of the Spirit Facebook page, we see a couple of common threads from readers who feel particularly challenged by their 3-d Earth life journey. One query usually revolves around the question: “What is my Life Purpose?”
Another theme often revolves around the question, “Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?”
Here at DOTS, we do not have all of the answers (and we would never claim to) but one possibility we propose is this: Our purpose on this planet is to learn, have a broad range of experiences, work out karma from past lives and remember who we really are.
Think of this planet as a stage, and all of us as actors. During this dramatic “play”, everything we do and experience appears real to the observers (a.k.a. us . . . you, me, everybody).

“Our life’s purpose is to remember who we are. Life’s meaning is to become that. We are not just animal. We are not just spirit. We are something more.” Sandra Cline, from her novel “Pug Sheridan”

If you understand (and believe) that you can’t get it wrong . . . that the ultimate goal is all about having the experience (and learning from it) and that at the end of the day we are all Infinite Beings who will NEVER die, things are put into a healthier perspective.
In her book, “Between Death and Life”, author (and regressive hypnotherapist) Dolores Cannon writes about “soul agreements” we make prior to coming into physical existence.
During that period (the time between lives), our teacher-guides (along with members of our soul group) help us to devise situations and experiences to have during our physical journey, a rough blueprint of the 3-d Earth life to come.
While it is difficult for us to see those we love experience what we would consider “rough times,” it helps to understand that these experiences were planned in advance and are facilitating the evolutionary journey of the souls involved.
And of course, if YOU are one of the ones having a challenging time, this perspective can also help you get through it as you put one foot in front of the other and move forward.

DOTS can also recommend another enlightening book. It’s actually entitled, “When Bad Things Happen to Good People”. The author is Harold S. Kushner. This wonderful little gem recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary as a consistent seller. An excerpt from the Amazon.com book review states: “Rarely does a book come along that tackles a perennially difficult human issue with such clarity and intelligence.

“Harold Kushner, a Jewish rabbi facing his own child’s fatal illness, deftly guides us through the inadequacies of the traditional answers to the problem of evil, then provides a uniquely practical and compassionate answer that has appealed to millions of readers across all religious creeds. Remarkable for its intensely relevant real-life examples and its fluid prose, this book cannot go unread by anyone who has ever been troubled by the question, Why me?”
When our egos become involved, we want to understand everything that happens to us at a conscious level. We want answers. And we want them NOW.
We also want to know that everything is going to be OKAY.
BOTTOMLINE: It’s when we release the attachment to having answers that we experience true freedom. A Phoenix always rises from ashes; from adversity is born contrast. From contrast springs desire. And the Cosmic Beat Goes On.
Inevitably, we move along the Soul Evolutionary Path as we continue our Infinite Journey towards the Light, the SOURCE of All There Is.
Namaste from DOTS.
